Mount Brenton Power & Sail Squadron was formed in 1977 and since that time has been providing training in Boating Safety for residents of Ladysmith and surrounding area. The Squadron as part of the national organization of Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons, is dedicated to promoting safety in boating and to this end offers courses to the general public in recreational boating safety.
Mount Brenton Power & Sail Squadron is one of the 10 Squadrons which make up Vancouver Island, North District. Nationally there are 18 Districts with a total of approximately 30,000 members belonging to Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons (CPS). CPS is a volunteer organization dedicated to Safe Boating through Education.
Our Services
Mount Brenton Power & Sail Squadron is an Accredited Course Provider for the Pleasure Craft Operator's Certificate (PCOC), and the Restricted Operator's Certificate (Maritime) for VHF Radio.
Membership meetings
Membership meetings are held on the third Monday of each month excepting July and August, at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 621 First Avenue, Ladysmith at 1930 hours. The meetings are open to all members and their guests. Successful completion of the Boating Course is the basic requirement for full membership. The Squadron annually publishes 10 editions of their newsletter, the Anchorline, which is made available to all members. The Anchorline is supported by local businesses with advertisements in the newsletter. Local membership currently numbers 188.
